wherein I pretend to own a CTS-V for a week....anything you want to know about this car?

You wearing a Vader helmet when you drive it?

Can I have it please?

I find most reviews focus on track and not much on road but I’m curious how it would handle the duties of a GT car.

How sideways can you get it?

How long could you hide in Mexico with it?

Awesome picture!

Is it a car?

How does the seat feel, specifically the bolsters? It was uncomfortably tight when I sat in one at the auto show whereas the ATS-V was much more comfortable.

How quickly can it make the drive to Ontario and can I drive it when you get here?
/I tried

yes but only since you asked nicely

Like...amazingly well. It’s very comfortable and with the e-diff from the Z06 the power is surprisingly accessible and usable at almost any speed. It manages its weight very well.

100% car

Hm...I honestly haven’t noticed any difference between CTS and ATS seats. Bolstering is fine if not a bit on the loose side, I’m a skinny guy so I really like tight bolsters.

Mmmmmmm that’s my perfect car. Would you compare it to something like the BMW 6 series gran coupe but with a dab of hick (in a good way)?
![]() 04/15/2016 at 09:50 |

When I was working out the details of the loan I actually asked them if I could drive it to LA...they said not this time...but that trip might be happening later in the summer in an ATS-V!
![]() 04/15/2016 at 09:51 |

Same here, which is why I was so surprised by how tight they were. Might have just been the show model.

At a basic level yeah it could be compared to the 6er but they have wildly different characters. M6 is a great car with lots of power but (and it pains me to say this) the CTS handles 600+ hp much better than any M5 or M6 I’ve driven. The e-diff from the Z06 helps the thing feel a lot smaller than it is, and it moves so nicely under power in corners.

Does it smell good?
![]() 04/15/2016 at 09:53 |

Or maybe adjustable bolsters? Will have to look when I get back in it today. My mom’s E90 328i has adjustable bolsters on the front seats so I wouldn’t be surprised if the V has something along those lines.

Smells like any new American car on the inside and burnt rubber on the outside ;)

Which seat was it, do you know? The CTS has an option for a “luxury” oriented set of seats, and then “performance” oriented Recaro seats.

Would it be more fun with a manual transmission? I said fun, not fast.

I looked and didn’t find anything, wasn’t going to really search for it haha. The fit was so bad I could barely put my hand in between the seat and the door.

Don’t recall

Great to know and not surprising. Having driven both the M5 and M6 I was curious at how the Caddy compared. In terms of interior comfort how do you personally feel it stacks up?
Also, something that the center consol look’s like a transformer’s head. If you noticed, did that ever go away?
Thanks for answering all the questions, it’s been on my test drive list but none have been available locally.

It looks nice and all but has the styling started to wear on you? I always think they look awesome but some cars lose their luster.
![]() 04/15/2016 at 10:12 |

Have you driven a 2nd gen CtsV and overall, how much of a difference did you notice good and bad?
![]() 04/15/2016 at 10:12 |

Where do you place it in terms of luxury sports cars? Inbetween what similar cars?

Does the Z ediff put power down the way you'd like it when slidin a lil bit

Well thanks ! I'll come get it tomorrow.

I mean, probably, but it’s still fun without.

General interior comfort is fine but the euros still do it a little better. Still a lot of shiny plastic stuff.
![]() 04/15/2016 at 10:50 |
|
Not really. I keep being impressed at how aggressive it looks when I walk up to it. People definitely notice it too.
![]() 04/15/2016 at 10:51 |

Yes, big difference. The prev gen I drove was a manual wagon, which was cool and all but I didn’t really get the feeling that it was a really good driver’s car. The new one, very much a driver’s car.
![]() 04/15/2016 at 10:52 |

Well it’s meant to compete with the Ms and AMGs, and I think it does quite well.
![]() 04/15/2016 at 10:53 |

veryyyy much so. It sorta squats and then will just kinda sit a little sideways at WOT, it’s fun as hell.
![]() 04/15/2016 at 11:28 |
|
Right, it is meant to...but what would you rather have? Or does it blow away the M5 or similar cars?

Can't wait for lil skids. A month and a half till I can drive!

Really tough to say. I just got back from shooting the CTS with an RS7, both have their merits but the CTS-V was a better performer.
